What to fill in on a queen record

The record opens from the “Queen” section of a hive card, or from “Bees” → “Queens”. Its sections are:

• “Basic data” — “Birth Date” (the date she emerged), “Age” (worked out by the app), “Mating date”, “Queen Status”, “Breed”, “Insemination Type”;
• “Colony” — which colony the queen belongs to;
• “Marking” — the marker colour and the “Number on marker”;
• “Origin” — “Purchased”, “Swarm”, “Reared”, “Supersedure”, “Unknown”;
• “Body Parts Condition” — notes on damage to wings, legs and antennae;
• “Genetics” — “Gentleness”, “Productivity”, “Disease Resistance”, “Winter hardiness”, “Egg Laying”, “Swarming Tendency”;
• “Photos”, “Queen history”, “Notes”.

The only required field is “Birth Date” — the app works out her age from it, and uses that age to tell you when she is due for replacement. If you don’t know the exact date, because you bought the colony with the queen already in it, put in at least the year — that is better than nothing.

Photos become available after the first save: before that the app tells you to save the queen first.
